Building Leadership in Health Care

At the end of 2011, Côte d’Ivoire faced significant health challenges, particularly in the area of maternal and child health, and was struggling to prevent and treat HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria, but the Government of Côte d’Ivoire articulated a vision for an integrated, accountable, efficient health care system that would guarantee the health and well-being of all citizens, particularly the most vulnerable populations, in its National Health Development Plan for 2012–2015.

Building Leadership in Health Care

In December 2011, the USAID-funded Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG) Project, with support from the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, began to support the country’s health system, first working with the Country Coordinating Mechanisms, and in subsequent years expanding its support to the Ministère de la Sante et de l’Hygiène Publique.

This report details the LMG/Côte d’Ivoire Project’s activities and achievements in partnership with Côte d’Ivoire’s government and health system.
